"Earth's ozone shield and its changes" is the first book not only in our country which presents systematically and with details the current state of the ozone problem. Basic facts on atmospheric structure and composition, on trace gases and aerosols, forming radiation and temperature fields, forming atmospheric circulation and air mass transport are briefly outlined. Methods, instruments and results of ozone and other minor gas content are considered together with their photochemistry in different parts of the atmosphere, of the polar zones in particular. Mathematical model grounds used for analysis and forecasting of observed changes of ozone and other radiative-active gases caused by various natural and anthropogenic factors according to scenarios of expected evolution of anthropogenic influences on the atmosphere are presented. The new and not yet well understood phenomena of ozone "holes" in the Antarctic and Arctic atmosphere are described and analyzed, as is done for the possible effects of ozone content changes on man and biosphere. The international activity in recent decades in Earth's ozonesphere studies and protection is indicated.
